At around 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, first responders from the Easton Volunteer Fire Department and nearby agencies were called to the Easton Diner on Ocean Gateway in Talbot County, where there was a reported fire.

Investigators say that the occupants were advised by a passerby that there was a fire outside the building near the rear door of the kitchen, and everyone was able to safely escape the restaurant.

It took a team of nearly three dozen firefighters nearly an hour to get the flames under control, though the fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the diner.

According to the Maryland Fire Marshal on Thursday, June 6, the diner will remain closed until repairs have been made.
